Evaluation of Documentary

For my evaluation i will evaluate the whole documentary project. i will evaluating the phases of producing the Documentary, i will look at group work, production of the Documentary and other information about the Evaluation.

the phases of producing the documentary was that me and my group partner (muddassir) would complete all the post production stages. Which were completing the Blogger work which was writing up all the key stages that we were doing, For example we had produced a scheduled timetable to show the timeline on how much we had to produce, edit and finish the Documentary.

Generally the group that we had assigned our selves to were quite successful because we had worked well together, we had been successful at producing, editing and finishing the Documentary on schedule because of our good group work together. In our group we had no particular issues and group project came out successful and well achieved in producing it.

In our post production we had to write blogs about everything that we had done in our lessons. Our group had occurred a few issues because our first initial idea was going to be review kind of show, so that initial idea had been conflicted with the idea of being an actual review rather than a Documentary that was our class project. We had to come up with a whole new Documentary and re blog all the changes that were made. In the post production we had to make questionnaires  about the Documentary so that we can get a whole opinion on the issue of our documentary. We had done this by making a survey on Survey Monkey online. We had also used our questionnaires to question the interviewee on the issue.

Our group had also looked at different Documentaries online to add up what we were going to do for our initial idea for the Documentary. This was useful research that we needed to create our project. In our Documentary we had used several good camera angles so that it would be interesting, we had used a different camera angle that the interviewee would look at the interviewer not the camera. The song that were used in the documentary were

Intro - Bag Raiders, Fun Punch

Question time - Super Mario theme song

Ending song - She be Working - JON MCXRO

In the actual video we had inserted a title intro that would show what the Documentary would consist of, we had done this so that the audience would not be confused on what is going on in the Documentary.
here is the finished documentary video that we have produced for our media documentary project.

media homework

For my homework i will be producing a media textbok chapter of issues that producers face when programming their production.

Accuracy - Accuracy is based on the facts of the data that is produced to the issue. The data is determined if it is right or not. If data that is not accuratly correct this will have a huge impact negativly on the production programe.

Balance - Balance is based on how unbiased a production can be. For example the BBC is a unbiased Broadcasting station because it is public channel so the programs would have a two sided answer to any particular issue, unlike other Broadcasting channels like Channel 4 and ITV, they would mainly be very biased because they would want a particular answer without looking at the other sides view on the issue. So balance is a very important key iu production.

Impartiality - Impartiality, again like balance it determines it self by the weight of how unbiased the views are from both side of the issue.

Objectivity - Objectivity is to generally reduce as much as possible the amount of biases, prejudices or subjective evaluation. Like balance it is determined by the amount of biased views that are answered on the particular issue.

Subjectivity - Subjectivity is based on the judgement of the individual impressions and feelings and opinions rather than external facts like prejudism.

Bias - Bias is determined through the way the programe is produced, for example a documentary can be on a particular issue but intstead of looking at both sides of issue the programe only looks at one side merely because of personal or politcal reasons.

Representation - representaion is how someone or something is shown to stand for someone or sonmething inparticular.

Access - A means of approaching, entering, exiting or communicating.

Privacy - The state or condition of being free from being observed ,disturbed and free from public attention.

Mentoring Year 8 english class

In our groups we had mentored several groups in a year 8 class, they needed to learn about what consists in a documentary. Me and my partner had taught them what is needed to make a good documentary. We had told them a documentary has to be organised and well prepared.

we had finished our task that was to accompany and assist the year 8 english class in making their documentary about the london riots, what we had learnt from this is that we had advanced in working and teaching in a short period of time.

lesson objective

In todays lesson we will be editing all of our videos that we have recorded in our previous lessons. Me and my partner muddassir will be also adding some extra features ( not currently going to show but will be revealed in actual video). I will be also adding extra footage of our project. Also in our lesson we are aiming to finish most of our editing in our three lessons of media.

we are editing the video footage of the interview we did on the students, teachers and other experts that we had interviewed.
For my initial idea for my project i will be producing a documentary about Consoles and Games. Our initial inspiration was from our passion for video games. We were inspired by the Gadget show and how we loved playing video game. our video will include the aspects of the consoles, sales, coming soon and add ons. we will also include games from a variety of different games and consoles and give a hands on view, research what is so special about them, we will look at the initial ratings and compare them to similar titles. We may also include a games tally for our students in Sidney Stringer, we will be asking them what is their favourite game and why?

what consoles we are planning to look into

Xbox
Xbox 360
ps1
ps2
psp
ps3
pc
nintendo gamecube
sega mega drive
gameboy

we will look at the biggest titles this may include games like :
 GTA
Assassins creed
Call of duty
Battlefield
batman
halo
need for speed
mario
sonic
etc

PLEASE & THANKS
The first video that I will be  reviewing is an observatory documentary. The documentary shows the view point from the older generation from saying please and thanks and also polite in general.  The documentary shows the older generations reaction how the younger generation has less politeness toward their parents and elders. The video does not show the documentary through the younger generations viewpoints so this can be biased in a way just by looking through the older generations eyes. The video has a range of different documentary genres like this video is also an expository, observatory and informatory.

King of Laughter

This documentary shows the life of a man who has laughed his life because he thinks it helps him survive and keep strong through hardship. He narrates to the audience that he had a lot troublesome times but he just strides the hardship with a smile on his face. The documentary is a expository documentary because the main person is being exposed of his life story. The documentary is also a observatory because we also have quick experience of his day in his life.

How this would influence my documentary project

These documentary's would influence my project is by using a range of different types of documentary genres like expository, observatory,

lighting - the lighting is a key aspect that is used in most documentaries. in the Release video the lighting is very dark so that is gives a more darker effect than all the other videos which has more lighting and a more happier and positive.

Shots -
different camera angles. close up shots of the person interviewed.
wide shot of the action from the interviewed person. different angle shot of the scenery. shot has both subjects in the shot. shot has slow motion camera shots.

In the Release video, the camera shots where quite random so the video was not free flowing and did not look like it was happening all at once.

most videos are produced with a low budget and with a amateur filmmaker

interview points -
names area points, names of the people being interviewed.
all people interviewed would their named shown out in bold.

parkour -

street skateboarding - slow motion shots.

flat biking -  very dark theme to the video. use of different effects in the video like tinting the video more darker, adding a snowy effect to the video.

research methods

here are many types of research such as
  • primary research — original finding
  • Secondary research - summary, collation or a synthesis of someones existing work research
  • qualitative research - the research that goes in to detail, the research is often used as a method of exploratory research as a basis for later qualitative research hypotheses.
  • quantitative  research - research that depends on the amount of research in the detail on the document.
There are many other different methods of researching like manual research / primary research. Primary research is viewed as more time consuming and exhausting to do. The other method of research is internet based, when the finder surfs the internet to look for existing documents, this is known as secondary research.
